230Cs-specific notes for configuration of Linux system

It's not difficult to install Linux on 230Cs, like other contemporary notePCs. Various distributions such as Slackware, RedHat LINUX, debian may work.

I use Slackware, because selecting each softwares manually to be installed or not is needed for constructing a minimum system comfortable for such a low-spec machines.

For building Japanese environment, see PJE (Project Japanese Environment) distribution add-ons.

Here I will wrote some 230Cs-specific notes for configuring Linux system.

Kernel Configuration

Key Layout configuration

I always use ASCII-layout (Sun-5) keyboard in my laboratory, so the Japanese keymap is only a pain.
So I made a ascii psuedo-compatible keymap file for 230Cs. To use this, put the file in keytables directory ("/usr/lib/kbd/keytables" in Slackware) and do:
      % loadkeys defkeymap tp230-ascii-d.map
in /etc/rc.d/rc.local or so.
The top right keys will be remapped like this:
む -> backquote   ろ -> slash

return
