5.3.3 Japanese Peculiar Speech Rhythm : Tokushuhaku

Tokushuhaku is a complex phenomenon which is still not completely understood in its exact duration, but greatly effects on native-like pronunciation[36]. We have also examined the duration of preceding and following phonemes of Tokushuhaku. To avoid the effect of number and position of mora, measurements were performed for the Tokushuhaku that was located in a second mora of four mora words. In addition, the fourth mora were also measured for a moraic nasal to examine the effect of word final-comming mora.
