2 Linguistic Phonetics and Speech Recognition Techniques for CAPL

Understanding how the sound is made will allow non-native learners to produce it correctly. The study of how sounds are produced and how the position of the mouth can be changed to produce different sounds is called phonetics. We describe some basic concepts of phonetics and how they are incorporated with the speech recognition techniques for the CAPL system. Finally, we introduce an overview of our CAPL system.
